General Institute Requirements
To graduate, all students must take up certain courses. These courses constitute the General Institute Requirements(GIR) although, they are also called the Grossly Irritating Redundancies. They include 2 courses of Hacking Studies, one course of tapestry making and one course on library shelving. In addition, students are advised to take Procrastination to help them manage their time well. There are also the usual courses on math, physics, chemistry and biology. There's also HASS (Heinous Awful Silly Stuff) to deal with.
The GIR's are a basic necessity for any well-rounded education. They bring out certain skills in a student that teach them how to not be insufferable prats and the rest of that yada yada. Most people like to finish off their GIR's in the first year and continue with their major after that.
The GIR's can be taken in any order, as long as the course numbers are in geometric progression. Advanced students may also try a Fibonacci course sequence, although this is often known to be detrimental to human respiration and digestion. All students must also learn to build beaver nests and dance the salsa as part of the cultural requirements.
